If you have tried B vitamins, folate, or methylfolate and felt no real difference, the answer may be in which form your genes handle well. This report shows you.
Methylation is a system of six interconnected biochemical pathways running continuously in every cell of your body: the folate cycle, the methionine cycle, the transsulfuration pathway, the neurotransmitter and BH4 recycling system, the urea cycle, and the nitric oxide pathway. Together they govern DNA repair, gene expression, neurotransmitter clearance, detoxification, and immune regulation.
These pathways depend on each other, so a bottleneck in one creates pressure across all the others. Reduced activity in the MTHFR enzyme slows folate conversion, which limits homocysteine recycling in the methionine cycle, which increases the load on the transsulfuration pathway through CBS. If CBS also carries variants, cysteine production drops and glutathione falls, reducing your antioxidant capacity. One variant can ripple across the entire system.
This is why generic advice on B vitamins and folate is often wrong for the people who need it most. The right nutrient depends on which parts of the pathway are under pressure in your specific biology, not on population averages.
Why the same protocol works differently for different people
Some of the strongest findings in nutrigenomics are not about the nutrient on its own. They are about the interaction between a gene and what you eat or supplement.
Three examples from this report:
- MTHFR and B vitamin form. Folic acid, the form in most supplements and fortified foods, goes through several steps before it becomes methylfolate, the form your body uses to recycle homocysteine. MTHFR handles the last step. People with two copies of the common C677T variant have about 15 percent lower blood folate on the same intake. Methylfolate skips those steps and raises folate at least as well, so some people prefer it. Your report shows your variants and ranks folate forms among your priorities. Planning a pregnancy? Folic acid is the form proven in trials to prevent neural tube defects.
- COMT and neurotransmitter clearance. COMT uses SAMe, produced by the methionine cycle, to break down dopamine and norepinephrine. When methylation is impaired and SAMe production drops, neurotransmitter clearance slows. Knowing your COMT genotype helps you choose where to start: which forms of folate and B12 to begin with, how quickly to add methyl donors, and how much caffeine suits you.
- DAO, HNMT and histamine tolerance. Histamine intolerance is often put down to food sensitivity when the real issue is a clearance bottleneck. Variants in DAO reduce histamine breakdown in the gut, and variants in HNMT slow clearance inside your cells. Because HNMT uses SAMe as its methyl donor, impaired methylation makes histamine intolerance worse. Knowing which clearance pathways are under strain tells you which foods, supplements, and lifestyle changes apply to you.
That is the case for personalization in three findings. The average recommendation has to cover everyone. Yours does not.
What the report analyzes
This report reads 61 genes across these areas, including a dedicated dietary genetics section covering the nutrients and food patterns most relevant to your methylation capacity:
- The methylation cycle. How efficiently your body produces and recycles methyl groups (MTHFR, MTHFS, MTHFD1, DHFR, SLC19A1, AHCY, MTR, MTRR, PEMT, BHMT, CBS).
- Neurotransmitter synthesis and BH4 recycling. How your body produces and clears dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine, and whether BH4 recycling keeps nitric oxide production on track (COMT, MAOB, QDPR, GSS).
- Histamine metabolism and clearance. How well your gut and cells break down histamine from food and from your own immune response (AOC1/DAO, HNMT, ALDH2, FMO3, SUOX).
- Transsulfuration and detoxification. How your body converts homocysteine into cysteine, glutathione, and taurine, and how it handles certain compounds from diet and environment (CBS, SUOX, NAT1, NAT2, CPS1).
- Vitamin and nutrient metabolism. How efficiently you absorb and activate key vitamins including D, A, B12, and iron (VDR, GC, CYP2R1, BCO1, TF, TMPRSS6, FUT2, LCT, CYP1A2).
- Dietary and metabolic genetics. How your body handles fat, glucose, inflammation, and circadian eating, through the genes that interact most directly with what and when you eat (APOE4, FTO, LEPR, PPARG, PPARA, PPARGC1B, FADS1, FADS2, ADIPOQ, IRS1, CETP, LIPC, APOA2, ACE, AGT, ABCG2, SLC2A9).
What you get
Every Noorns report follows the same structure, built to cut through overwhelm and point you to action:
- A Recommendations Summary. A short, ranked list of foods, nutrients, and lifestyle factors to focus on or avoid, each scored by how strongly your genetics support it. For most people this is the only page they need to start.
- A Conflicts section. When different genes pull in opposite directions, the report shows you both scores instead of hiding the tension. You see the strength of each signal and can make an informed decision with your practitioner.
- Gene-by-gene pages. A plain-English page for each gene, with a clear table of the variants you carry, what they mean, and the specific changes tied to them.
- A Science Deep Dive. The full biology of all six pathways, for when you or your practitioner want to understand the why. It is optional, since everything you need to act on is in the Recommendations Summary.
Who it is for
This report is most useful if you have struggled with fatigue, brain fog, mood instability, histamine symptoms, or unexplained B vitamin issues and have never had a genetic explanation. It is also the right starting point if you work with a practitioner who wants a rigorous genetic foundation for nutrient protocols, or if you already have DNA data and want to understand what it means for your daily choices.
It pairs naturally with the DNA Weight Loss and Metabolism Report, and the same DNA file powers every Noorns report.
Your DNA never leaves your computer
When you generate this report, the analysis runs entirely inside your own web browser, on your own device. We do not upload your DNA. We do not store it. We cannot read it. Privacy is enforced by architecture, not by a policy you have to trust.
How it works
- Buy the report. You get a sign-in link by email. There is no password to remember.
- Add your DNA file. Select the raw data file you already have from 23andMe, Ancestry, MyHeritage, or another DNA service. It is read on your computer and never sent to us.
- Generate and save. The analysis takes three to ten minutes in your browser, then hands you a PDF to keep. Keep the tab open while it runs.
Common questions
What if I do not have a DNA file yet?
You need raw data from 23andMe, Ancestry, MyHeritage, or another DNA service. We do not sell kits, so order a test from one of them first, then download your raw data file from their site.
How is this different from free DNA tools?
Free tools usually give you raw variant data and leave the interpretation to you. This report weighs your variants by study quality and effect size, maps them across six interconnected pathways, and resolves the conflicts between genes that point in opposite directions. You get a ranked, food-first action plan you can use without a genetics background.
How is this different from other methylation reports?
Most methylation reports cover MTHFR and a handful of related genes. This report covers 61 genes across all six pathways that interact with the methylation cycle, including histamine clearance, neurotransmitter metabolism, transsulfuration, and the dietary genetics that decide which foods support or strain your pathways.
Is my data really private?
Yes. The analysis happens in your browser, and your DNA file is never uploaded or stored. If a generation does not complete, you have three free reprocessing attempts.
Will my report update when new research comes out?
Yes, when we update the report. Each purchase lets you generate your report up to three times, so if we add new research while you still have a run left, run it again and you get the new version.
Do I need to be an expert to use it?
No. Most people read the Recommendations Summary, change a few things starting with food, and give it time. The gene pages and Science Deep Dive are there for when you want to go deeper, or when you are working through the results with a practitioner.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have not started generating the report. Email info@noorns.com.
